España-Week 1

Honestly, I’m really not sure how I could ever put into words, or express in pictures, how amazing Toledo is. There is more history here within a few blocks than in the entire state of Tennessee or South Carolina.

It’s been exhausting so far, but worth the jet lag and lack of sleep. There is a new view to admire everyday, and I can’t wait for the next few weeks traveling throughout Spain and finding my favorite places in Toledo.

My favorite spot right now is on the outskirts of the city, because you get a view like this one:

In fashion news, the style here is exactly the inspiration I needed. Everything is casual, but very fashion forward so all of the looks are very put together.

I never buy tops for some reason, I always find myself buying just skirts or just dresses. On Friday we decided to go shopping and this time I did end up with two tops and one dress (that I am so excited to wear in Paris).

It is so hot here, so I have been wearing a lot of white in the hopes that I do not have a heat stroke.

Today, we went exploring the bridges and I wore this super comfortable and flowey (very important in the heat) white dress from ASOS.

This is the first time I’ve worn a show other than sandals, and while they are very comfortable, they don’t grip the cobblestone well. Always make sure your shoes work with the cobblestone in ancient cities.

Accessories have been limited to the rings I wear everyday, and maybe a pair of studs. In my opinion, the heat makes a lot of jewelry uncomfortable so I have kept it simple. However, one of my favorite items I brought with me is my straw H&M hat I purchased last summer.

And of course my Anthropologie sunglasses because the sun here is unlike anything else (there are no trees for shade).

I can’t wait for four more weeks of fashion inspiration and magazine-worthy views. More posts to come!

Simple Details

Some occasions require certain outfits, such as job interviews, work or a banquet. However, these kind of outfits don’t have to be traditional and “boring” because there are some basic staples that have unique detailing to give the item some excitement.

Caroline’s mom went to Paris about a month ago, and brought her back this collared shirt.

From far away, the shirt looks simple and something that you would wear for an interview.

That is the case. This shirt is perfect paired with a pencil skirt or this cute striped H&M mini-skirt (which is from my closet). It is simple and versatile, but it is not exactly just plain.

The closed eyelash detail on both sides of the collar make this shirt in itself very chic. I love this small, yet simple detail added to an otherwise basic shirt.

The detail is so small that it will not distract from any other bottom that is paired with it, which makes the options as endless as if the detail was not even there.

Basic items, like a collared shirt, are necessary in the closet of even the biggest fashionista. They are always needed for some type of occasion and you don’t want to be caught without one.

However, find one with details as cute as this one, and you will want to wear it more than just to your next interview!

Red, White and Blue…and Kappa Delta

Over the weekend, my sisters and I had Spring House Party that included a spring photoshoot on quite possibly the rainiest day of April.

However, our pictures were taken inside so it was nothing a switch from rain boots to heels after the walk in couldn’t fix.

This year, we were put into groups with a certain color that we had to wear. I was chambray, but the other two groups where white/tan or red.

There are so many ways you can do chambray. I wore a t-shirt dress with white stripes and it was so comfortable.

My friend Briley (right) wore a romper. There are so many colors of chambray, light and dark, and they are all going to be a staple in the closet this summer! The material is lightweight and so easy to pair with anything.

We all had to wear brown shoes, but chambray goes great with any type of shoe in any color.

Chambray also looks great when you are taking pictures with people that are wearing tan and white.

Carissa (left) wore tied flare pants with a cold-shoulder white top. These pants are perfect for summer because they are a neutral color and super light-weight so they won’t make you hot.

Tan and chambray are two colors/materials that everybody needs to have in something. Whether it is a shirt, dress or pants these items can help simplify an outfit or even complete one depending on the occasion.

Perfect Romper for Casual Summer Days

Rompers in general are a staple to my summer wardrobe. They are comfortable, easy and simple enough to be dressed up or down.

Carmen’s American Eagle romper is a necessity this summer. The material is cotton, which even though it is more causal, if you add some heels this is a cute night-out outfit.

The bow-front and center cut-out are cute and playful, which are two attributes everyone wants in a summer outfit.

Carmen paired the romper with pearl, strappy sandals but any type of shoe will work with this romper depending on the occasion.

Because the romper is kind of low-cut, statement earrings are a good choice for this outfit. For this look, something with a lot of color is best because of the neutral colors in the romper itself.

A dainty emblem necklace or wrap necklace with the earrings will add just enough to complete the outfit without making it look over-accessorized.

The bow-front detail is an accessory in itself.

Whether you have this exact romper, or something similar, you can wear it multiple times in many different  ways!

Midi of Summer

Times like these I wish I were the perfect 5 foot 7 inches, but instead I will just talk about how great this dress is on my roommate.

I am a huge fan of The A List blog, written by Alyssa Campanella. If you don’t follow any kind of blogger, she is the perfect one to follow because her style is inspirational. She is classic, but she also takes risks and I love getting ideas from her blog.

This outfit is one of those ideas.

This floral midi dress is from Target. It is so easy to put on and the colors and off-the-shoulder detail make it perfect for any occasion this summer.

I always like to add some kind of heel when dresses or jumpsuits hit at the middle of the leg. I think even if you are tall, like Caroline is, it makes the leg look better and the outfit more complete.

These Sam Edelman mule sandals are a style that is going to be super popular this summer, and almost every designer and store will have some form of them in stock.

I think they would also look great with some denim shorts and a basic top!

Some dainty jewelry and fun sunnies are all the accessories a fun dress like this needs.

I suggest going to Target soon, they have so many fashion forward items at such a good price!

Happy summer shopping!

Jumpsuit Heaven

Do you ever just find an article of clothing, that even while just standing in the dressing room, you see yourself trying to find every occasion to wear it?

I had that feeling when I tried on this jumpsuit, and it’s from Target!

I do not usually pull off cropped pants, simply because cropped on normal people is floor length on my 5 foot frame.

However, this jumpsuit was the perfect length. The flare legs are a bold move for this style of jumpsuit, but that made it all the more exciting.

The high waist on the jumpsuit slims down the rest of my body, which is always a factor people like to see when buying a jumper.

Not only that, but it has POCKETS! And there is nobody that can deny a good pocket.

The pattern is perfect because there is not too much going on and there are so many ways to style it.

I wore this to a concert, so I went with a bright clutch and heeled sandals. However, this jumper is perfect for casual day if you just add flat shoes and an understated cross-body purse.

My only complaint about this jumper, is that it didn’t come in more patterns. I likely would have bought them all.

Charleston Street Styles

Downtown Charleston is easily my favorite place to stroll any time of year, and I love looking at all of the fashion inspiration there.

When I went downtown over the weekend I wanted something causal, but also something that said “I know how to dress.”

I got this off-the-shoukder shirtdress at Forever 21 and it is so classy and chic.

It’s white so obviously can go with any sort of accessory, and I went with colorful cloth bracelets, stud earrings and studded, nude Sam Edelman sandals.

These sunglasses are also my favorite addition to any outfit. They are perfect dupes of the Tory Burch and Kate Spade styles. I got them at Anthropologie last summer for only 60 dollars!

The ruffle detail on the top of the dress gives the whole look a feminine touch, since it very much resembles a men’s dress shirt. However, I think that is what makes the whole idea stylish.

Another Concert, Another Outfit

Coachella is in full swing right now. Over the weekend, while I was not able to make it to California, I did make it to Charleston for The Chainsmokers concert.

This was such a fun concert, with loud and exciting music, which called for a loud and exciting outfit.

Aztec patterns, bright colors and cut-outs are all involved in this dress, making it perfect for an exciting concert.

Concert outfits should be simple and moveable enough so the entire night isn’t spent worrying about what you are wearing.

This dress is easy to throw on and requires few efforts in the accessory department because of the fun pattern.

This dress is perfect for heels or sandals, but if you are wearing it to a concert like Carmen did, I suggest flat shoes.

Her gold, tie-up gladiator sandals went perfectly with this dress and added an extra sparkle to the outfit.

I love this type of shoe for the summer because they will go with everything to complete a look.

The Chainsmokers concert was inside, but a lot of concerts during the hotter months are outdoors and this outfit is perfect for that too.

If you are going to a concert this summer, find a cute dress that you know you can dance in and that will be easy to accessorize. After that, you’re ready to enjoy the night!

One-Piece Rave

Last summer, everyone was unsure of the one-piece trend. There could be a few spotted here and there on the beach, but this summer they are fully stocked in every bathing suit store.

I was not sure if I liked the look on me, but it really depends on the style you choose. There are many designs and styles to choose from and there is one for everybody.

Both of these swimsuits are from Aerie and both represent different ways to go about trying the one-piece trend.

Carmen’s deep red one-piece with a center cut-out is perfect for those that are on the fence about the trend. The ruffles and v-neckline are very slimming while still staying conservative.

The pattern on my suit is a little crazy, and not usually a style I would go for, but the material is what sold me. It is super soft and comfortable.

The neckline is high while the sides plunge down. It can feel a little uncomfortable at first because the sides are so cut-out, but that just takes getting used to!

The straps in the back make a U-shape, so this suit is perfect if you’re wanting a one-piece  but also still wanting to tan.

My suggestion is to try on as many as you can, because there will be one that works no matter what size or shape you are.

Denim Jackets

While I am still a huge fan of the denim skirt, a little denim on top never hurt anyone either.

Denim on denim, and all kinds of tops being made into denim, is really popular right now.

This look gives off a very retro vibe, which my roommate Caroline can definitely pull off.

Her denim jacket is from Forever 21, but they can be found almost anywhere from the most inexpensive to expensive designer brands.

A denim jacket can go with almost any look you are trying to put together, and if it is chilly outside it is the perfect addition to an outfit if you want to go for something a little out of the box.

Caroline is wearing her jacket with drawstring shorts and striped tee, but a denim jacket can be perfect over a dress for a night out as well.

The jacket can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood. It is a staple for those cool summer nights!

So find your favorite shade of denim and go for it.
