Formal Affairs

It is that time of year when, if you are involved in Greek life, you get to live out your dreams of prom once again.

College prom, that is. Usually referred to as formal. While the dresses are not as extravagant, and most of the time hair is done by friends and not a specialist, it is still such a fun event to get dressed up for.

As a new member in Kappa Delta, I have to wear white to formal.

At first, I was really turned off by this because I have never been a fan of white dresses that aren’t wedding gowns. I also have never like white on my skin-tone.

After ordering a dress, selling it and ordering something different and altering it I finally had a dress I was happy with.

The buttons down the back were what sold me in the first place. The deep back and fan sleeves are a delicate addition to an otherwise very simple dress.

I love sleeves on a dress, it makes me feel more comfortable. However, because I am so short dresses that fit tighter to my body have generally always looked better and made me not feel so short.

A high neckline and statement earrings made this simple white dress pop, and it was perfect for the occasion. I ordered the dress from ASOS in advance so I would have time to alter it, which is a tip I suggest everyone who needsĀ a dress takes into consideration!

I’m just excited that next year, my color options will be endless.

High Necks and Suede

Concerts are my favorite events to attend, and I love planning outfits for them.

Last night, and for the third time, I went to see Ben Rector in Knoxville at the Tennessee Theatre. (If you haven’t listened to him I highly suggest doing so!)

Despite the fact that it is mid-October, it was pretty hot in Knoxville.

I have been saving this top for this occasion and I can’t wait to wear it all fall long. It is going to be perfect with a sweater and jeans.

The high-neck lace makes it dressy enough if you want it to be, but it can still work as a simple, cute top to wear to class. It is not the best shirt to tuck in, I will admit, but it ended up working with this outfit.

So far this year I have invested in two new suede minis, the dark blue pictured here and a tan-colored one, and it is likely I will go for a third.

I love the dark blue color of this one, because it is almost like a denim and can be paired with so many different types and colors of tops.

This outfit will be great with tights once it gets colder. I also pair my suede skirts with booties, they are the perfect pair going into fall! So find your favorite color suede mini to wear with all of your favorite things this year!
